Take time to develop relationships that last.

Relationships are hard work. Really hard work. Investments really. No shortcuts, no silver bullets, no love at first sight.

Relationships are little delicate slow growing trees. They need to be tended to, they need to be watered. They need to be encouraged and cared for in order to grow.

Even with all the work, sometimes they still die.

The work is a necessary requirement, but not a guarantee of growth and life. Sometimes even the most promising relationships do not flourish for whatever reason, know one knows, but they don’t. BUT, sometimes they do, sometimes surprising ones spring up, grow strong, mighty like a giant sequoia, after many many years, they seem so strong, mature, reliable, and steadfast.

Investment

The very best, most incredible, got your back no matter what, no matter where, kind are always worth the investment, worth the tears, the pain, the joy, the laughter, the life.

ALWAYS

I see so much of the world being superficial. Pretending to have amazing long lasting relationships; but they are fake, hollow, they have shallow roots.

Kind of like that mighty sequoia. It’s so grand and amazing, but also without the protection of the grove, it’s shallow roots can’t prevent the might tree

from toppling over from a wind gust on a stormy day.

It happens. It happens sometimes, that long lasting relationship the one you thought had deep roots, you find has shallow roots, you find it’s actually weak, it’s actually not based on the love an unconditional respect and love you thought.

It happens, it crashes, it comes down in a swift loud crash.

It happens, and when it does it hurts, it’s shocking, and it’s painful, so painful that it’s difficult to even endure.

So then what.

What do we do with that, do we not invest for fear of a crash?

Of course not. It’s part of being human, of living and sharing this life of yours with others. You will never experience the joy of an amazing friendship without some of the pain as well, and without a lot of risk. You have to be willing to risk, to put yourself out there, to invest and invest heavily. I know it’s hard when it doesn’t work out, pulling the knife out of your back is painful, maybe the most painful of life’s unfortunate experiences, BUT the joy of a real friendship a real relationship with people that truly care about you, no matter how, what no matter when, no matter why is worth it.

What’s the point without it?

Take the risk anyway, move past the failures, find relationships and INVEST.

Take time to develop relationships that last.
