Make sure you’re always paying attention to the details

Stop blaming the mistakes you’re making on the “hustle” of business.

I have been an entrepreneur for over 20 years. I have founded or co-founded 14 different businesses. Most of them didn’t end all that great, some of them became pretty amazing things, in every single one I learned incredible lessons on life, people, and business.

There were countless times I pushed something through just to make progress when whatever it was wasn’t ready when things were not perfect.

Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and place for releasing something early to learn quick, too “fail faster.” I’m a huge proponent, of the lean approach, the fail faster approach.

It’s amazing, it really is.

It’s also an excuse I hear over and over AND OVER to turn out CRAP. There is a time to release, test and learn, and there is a time to mind the details and turn out something perfect.

It will take longer, it will be harder, it will be discouraging, but it will be worth it.

One of my favorite things in the world is flying. It’s truly magical in so many ways. It’s also a good reminder of how important the details really are.

When you’re a pilot you can’t miss anything. When you’re flying a plane you follow the rules, you follow the checklists, you cross your freaking “T”s and dot your freaking “I”s.

OR YOU DIE.

What would your life look like if you took it more seriously, if you paid attention to the details. What would your relationships look like? What if you put as much care and attention into the relationship that matter most to you as a pilot does while doing a pre-flight?

The pilot knows that missing a detail on that pre-flight inspection could cost him and his passengers their lives.

What if you treated the relationships of those you loved with the same attention to detail?

What if?

Make sure you’re always paying attention to the details.

Early morning #preflight with my dad and two oldest kids. Spending time with the ones you love makes the #hustle worth it. Always pay attention to the details missing them weather flying or in #business can be catastrophic
