Few things under the sun are truly new. Few circumstances can't benefit from an understanding of the past.
Growing up history was one of my least favorite subjects. I just felt it was a foolish waste of time to learn about things from the past, the future is what we should be learning about, preparing for!
I felt this way until I was about 20, and I started to understand the value of learning from others mistakes, from others journeys.
Over the last 20 years, I have developed a deep and profound appreciation for history, learning, and studying the past.
So much in life can be learned from our past. We do ourselves such a disservice by not spending time studying what has and hasn't worked. Humans have been on this earth for thousands of years, millions of people have experienced every element of life, business, relationships. Why do we spend so little time in conversation with those older than us? Why do we spend so little effort studying what has been, other cultures?
I've learned decisions can be so much more informed, less risk with a healthy understanding and respect for the past.
Understanding where we've been offers clarity for what may come to pass, spend a little more time learning, understanding, and developing a respect for history.
