Paths rarely take you to where you expect. Make sure you enjoy the journey!

One thing is always constant in life; things do NOT go as planned.

As we travel along this path of life stuff happens. A lot of stuff. If you've been around for any length of time you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Stuff happens.

Stuff happens, and it happens when we least expect it, when we are least prepared for it, and often when it hurts the very most. For many of these little "diversions" off our intended path there simply are no "good" times, but there are for sure worse times, and then there are the "worst times." Inevitably the crap hits the fan RIGHT at the absolute worse possible time.

So what then?

You have two options; bitch and complain, OR put a smile on your face, and make the most of it.

Most people bitch and complain.

Why?

Does it make the problem "less" of a problem? Does it help overcome the problem? Does it lower the negative impact of the problem? No, Nein, and Nyet.

It doesn't freaking help at all.

Your life is gonna be long (hopefully), you're gonna find yourself in places and situations that you truly never EVER expected. You won't be prepared, and you won't be enjoying it.

Backcountry roads are some of the very best!

Backcountry roads are some of the very best!

So what? What are you going to do then, cry about it like everyone else?

Suck it up, and do your best enjoy the journey. "Chris you don't understand, my life is so hard, your life is so easy." Are you freaking kidding me? PLEASE. We all, and I mean ALL have difficult times, sure some are more difficult, I'll give you that, but don't assume for a second that someone else has it easy and you have it hard, just because of what you see, what you hear, what their skin color is, or where they live. Regardless of what you see and hear out there, it's just not that simple.

Whatever hand you're dealt, whatever situation you're in. It's yours, no one is gonna bail you out or give you the magical bean to plant and fix it all. Deal with it, suck it up, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, humble yourself and ask for help, think, set goals, do what's necessary to RISE above the crap and enjoy the life you have been given.

Life is so much more fulfilling when you take this approach. The inevitable crap WILL hit the fan, and when it does, push hard, smile bigger, hug tighter, and forgive quicker.

You'll enjoy the journey FAR more, and so will all those around you, trust me.

Onward,

Chris Behnke
