Embrace time passing

Terrified of getting old?

Most are scared of getting old, missing out, slowing down while the world quickly passes by.

Watching the fingernail moon from a fire tower deep in Yosemite National Park. Magical.

Watching the fingernail moon from a fire tower deep in Yosemite National Park. Magical.

I recently turned 40
40 years old. Over the hill.

So I guess that means I'm headed down the backside of a journey through this cold dark world.

I'm not scared though, I'm more excited than ever.
I'm more optimistic than ever.

I know I have persevered through many years of hard times, many years of learning, many mistakes, many "I gosh darn wish I knew that before I started" moments.

You know what? Despite all the I wouldn't change a thing. I mean don't get me wrong there are many things I wish I hadn't done or hadn't said, but all in all the good, the bad, the thick and thin are blended together to make me who I am. It's a beautiful mess that makes me the person that I am today; uniquely and purposefully designed to do just what God needs me to do.

And yes, I really am more excited about that today than I was yesterday more eager to take on the world, more willing to be humbled and learn, and more optimistic for the future.

Most grow cynical over the years, more tired, more worn down and less patient.

It's sad really, such a waste

The very people that survive this life, learn lessons, and gain wisdom, are often the least willing to take the time to share that with the next generation.

The young people, in turn, are less willing to listen, less willing to slow down and take the time to listen, watch and learn. So set in their ways and confidence in their decisions.

Everyone loses, no one benefits

For me it's different, it will always be different. I'm excited for all the chapters to come, I'm ready to hit the ground running, and put on the pressure.

It's full court press time boys, time to take a breath get up and kick some serious tail. It's time to embrace time passing with hopeful optimism for the future.
